The house, formerly known as the Stador mountain hut, was built in the 1960s. For some time, it served as a stop for all passers-by, but was eventually closed for quite some time.
During the first lockdown of 2020, we rolled up our sleeves and began renovating it. We removed everything that seemed unnecessary and stripped the house to the bare walls. Bearing in mind how problematic it is to generate excessive amount of waste, we wanted to avoid it as much as possible.
At the same time, we wanted to show that it is possible to preserve the environment even during construction. We kept anything we thought could be useful, such as the original floor.Wooden wall coverings were refreshed and repainted. We also kept and repainted the interior doors. Part of the equipment was restored and the wooden planks from the roof became shelves. We made some of the furniture ourselves. The layout remained as it was in the beginning.
Today, the house does not serve as a mountain hut, but its purpose is still offering a retreat for those who love nature and life.
